Second time racing Unbound sick. Foolish yes, but I’ll try anything twice. Heck of a good time throwing elbows for the first half. Less of a good time limping home. What a race eh???? 8:37 for the winner @camjonesnz 🤯 I heard tell he ate 195g of carbs per hour for that one. Steak & eggs for the next week. Thanks & hugs to everyone out there this weekend 🤗 I know many of us like to get a punk rock & cry about how gravel’s gone corporate, but man, seeing those salty smiles beaming with pride after an odyssey through that vast sea of grass, warms even the coldest of hearts. Unbound is a race that eats. And boy is it hungry. Most of us become food. We can only fight and hope closer to nuts, not soup.It was fast and wild from the gun. Before this year, I asked @nathan.spratt when he thought Unbound would be raced like a traditional road race. And I think we got our answer. Attacks flew left and right. The pace was wicked fast for the first hour+. I hopped in a couple moves, but nothing really stuck until about divide road. I then found a chase group and stayed with them until the 2nd aid. From there, it was a cycle of totally dead to slightly revived, but mostly just survival.We'll be back next year.
